Albert Heijn, Delhaize to share Belgian site
Belgian supermarket chains Delhaize and Albert Heijn, both owned by Ahold Delhaize, are preparing outlets within the same retail complex at the former Makro site in Machelen. The development, alongside Colruyt Professionals, Solucious and Hubo’s new Colos DIY concept, marks the first time the sister grocery brands have opened so close together in Belgium, testing whether their distinct positioning can prevent sales cannibalisation.
