Albert Heijn wants to upgrade its AI assistant to shopping
Dutch supermarket chain Albert Heijn plans to expand its AI assistant Steijn from recipe advice into online grocery ordering. Proposed features include personalised shopping lists based on purchase history, product selection, delivery scheduling and potentially payments through chat. The retailer stressed that orders would require customer involvement rather than autonomous purchasing. The functionality remains at an early development stage, with no launch date confirmed.
