Aldi working to develop a retail media business

German discount retailer Aldi is preparing a retail media business to generate advertising revenue from its growing digital customer reach. Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd are jointly developing the offering, which will allow brand suppliers to target shoppers across digital channels. The move follows similar initiatives by rivals including Rewe, Edeka and Lidl as retailers seek new high-margin income streams. (Lebensmittel Zeitung)
