Edeka Nord and Edeka Rhein-Ruhr will launch Edeka Nordwest on 1 July 2026 after members approved the merger. The new region will be based in Moers, operate through a decentralised structure and serve about 1,500 Edeka, Marktkauf and Trinkgut outlets with around 600 independent retailers. Combined revenue is about EUR11 billion, with benefits expected from 2029 after investment in expansion, modernisation, logistics and digitalisation. (Lebensmittel Zeitung)
