Edeka upbraided over delayed supplier payments

Germany’s Federal Office for Agriculture and Food censured grocery group Edeka for agreeing payment terms exceeding 60 days with two salami suppliers and paying 245 invoices late between 31 May 2023 and 7 March 2024. German law limits payment to 30 days for perishable goods and 60 days for other food products. Edeka acknowledged the breaches and amended affected contracts, with no further complaints received.
