Kroger readies major round of price drops
Kroger CEO Greg Foran said the US grocer is developing plans to test price cuts before phasing them in across product categories, as it seeks to better compete with Walmart, Amazon, Costco, Trader Joe’s and Aldi. Kroger will fund lower prices through direct imports and use of technology to cut costs, including AI. The retailer plans to open 70-80 outlets next year, double its 2026 plan, including possible expansion in the Northeast, Texas, the Carolinas and Florida. (Progressive Grocer)
