Lidl is rolling out Scan&Go through its Lidl Plus app in Belgium, initially at Melle and Destelbergen before expanding to around 30 outlets this year. Customers scan and pack products using smartphones, then pay at self-checkouts, while AI-enabled scales automatically recognise fruit and vegetables. The service, already available in Germany, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, will eventually reach all Belgian Lidl stores equipped with self-checkouts. (Lidl Belgium)
