Lidl has overtaken Morrisons to become Great Britain’s fifth-largest grocer, after sales rose 8.8% YoY over the 12 weeks to 17 May. Worldpanel by Numerator said Lidl reached a record 8.6% market share, ahead of Morrisons at 8.3%. Lidl GB now has 1,000 outlets and 13 distribution centres. CEO Ryan McDonnell said the milestone reflected growing demand for value and quality as households manage grocery bills. (Guardian)
