Lidl has reversed its position on responsibility for private-label packaging under the EU’s new Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulation. Following updated European Commission guidance, Lidl will now assume the legally defined producer role for its own-brand packaging rather than requiring suppliers to do so. The retailer has nevertheless called for the PPWR’s implementation to be suspended. Aldi, Rewe, Wasgau and Norma maintain differing interpretations. (Lebensmittel Zeitung)
