Spanish supermarket chain Mercadona has opened its first store in Portugal’s Beja district, taking its national network to 75 outlets. Located at Beja Jardim Retail, the supermarket represents an investment of more than EUR5 million and employs 64 people on permanent contracts. The opening expands Mercadona’s presence in the Alentejo as it continues its Portuguese growth programme. (Mercadona)
