Morrisons shed almost 5,000 jobs in last fiscal year
UK supermarket Morrisons cut its workforce by 4,912 in the year to 26 October 2025, reducing headcount from 101,144 to 96,232. Around 4,200 store roles disappeared, alongside roughly 500 manufacturing and 200 distribution positions. Morrisons said supermarket reductions largely reflected staff departures not being replaced, while wider cuts followed the closure of newspaper home delivery, restructuring of retail teams and downsizing at Rathbones bakery.
