German grocery group Rewe is launching an AI research project to assess livestock health and welfare using camera and sensor technology. Initial trials will take place on selected pig and poultry farms, with VetVise providing the camera systems. Rewe said AI could continuously monitor animals, detect behavioural abnormalities earlier and support farmers’ decisions, while responsibility for animal welfare would remain with humans. (Rewe Group)
