Sainsbury’s and Morrisons discussed merger, reports say
UK grocer Sainsbury’s held merger talks with rival Morrisons between November 2025 and February 2026 over a potential multibillion-pound deal, according to FT reports citing people familiar with the discussions. Sainsbury’s later walked away and talks are no longer active, although a future revival has not been ruled out. Morrisons owner Clayton, Dubilier & Rice is said to remain open to a tie-up with a competitor. (ESM)
