Unilever CEO defends McCormick merger plans

Unilever CEO Fernando Fernández has defended plans to merge the group’s food business, including Marmite and Hellmann’s, with McCormick to create a company valued at around USD66 billion. The proposed tie-up would generate annual revenue of about USD20 billion, with Unilever and its investors holding 65%. Investors have raised concerns over debt, deal structure and disruption after years of restructuring.
