Walmart converts empty stores into micro-fulfilment hubs

Walmart is expanding its fast-delivery network by converting former pharmacies and vacant retail units into local fulfilment hubs. The retailer has opened at least three Walmart Depot sites in TX, NJ and AR, with proposed locations including former Rite Aid outlets in NY and CA and a former Walgreens in AR. Walmart said the pilot could reduce Supercentre congestion, improve order picking and support deliveries within 30 minutes. (Mass Market Retailers)
